Familiar With the Term Aspergillius?

Have you ever heard of Aspergillius Penicilum? It sounds like the penicillin that has been used as an antibiotic since the 1900’s, and they are somewhat related. The truth is, however, that it’s a dangerous type of mold that has been found in homes in many places. Since there are hundreds of types of mold and some of them are helpful, you need to be able to distinguish among them to see whether or not you have a problem. You should also remember that mold removal and remediation vary depending on many factors. Most people have mold checked out after they spot it somewhere on their property or after the people in their home start to display various, unexplained health maladies. Recently I read a story about a family who developed many different symptoms only to find that the real problem was mold.

Children, the elderly, or those who already have health problems are usually the first to experience sensitivity to mold. This man’s young son slept on the second story of their new home. The mold was first found under windows that were not properly sealed from moisture. The wooden frames began to rot, and mold was rampant. It even extended to the vinyl siding that covered the second story of the home. The boy experienced allergies and asthma. The family also had an infant who slept on the ground floor, and he began to experience breathing problems and constant ear infections. At the suggestion of a friend, they had the home inspected for mold. After professional mold testing results were positive for dangerous mold, the family moved out of their new home and into a rental. As soon as they moved out, the health of the family began to improve. Can you imagine the aftermath of all this-the anger, blame, inconvenience, expense, and legal issues? Luckily this family had a responsible contractor, good insurance, and an excellent mold remediation company which led to a happy solution to their dilemma. This certainly would not be true for all families. In fact, I’ve read of many families where the ending was not nearly as joyful.

If you have seen mold in any area of your home, or if you suspect that it may be there, it would certainly benefit your family to receive a mold inspection for your property. Technology today even allows testing behind walls where mold may hide. Just because you don’t see it directly, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. If you have symptoms, it’s because your body is reacting to something in the environment.
