The Best Tips on How to Clear Up Your Acne

Acne is the most infamous skin condition that plagues our society. People from young to old of all ages, races and skin textures get acne on a daily basis. For most having an acne breakout is simple to treat by washing your face and using an over the counter or home remedy acne treatments. However chronic acne needs additional treatment with prescription medication and creams. For those who suffer with acne breakouts learning the fastest, easiest and most inexpensive ways to clear up acne are vitally important. The next time a pimple astonishingly appears upon your face, use these tips to quickly clear it up.

1. Don’t pop your pimples- It always seems that a singular, red, inflamed pimple will pop up on your face. It’s hard not to want to pop it. However for the sake of your beauty and skin the best thing you can do is not pop it. It may be red, or even hurt a little but its best to avoid touching it as much as possible. When you squeeze or pop your pimples you risk getting dirt or bacteria from your hands inside your pores, which can re-infect the skin. Plus when the puss comes out you risk infecting the skin around the pimple, which causes more pimples to sprout up. Squeezing the skin also causes inflammation and irritation of the skin. It will take longer for the area surrounding the pimple to clear up.

2. Wash your face- It’s imperative to have proper facial hygiene to prevent and clear up acne breakouts. Throughout the day the skin on the face accumulates, dirt, bacteria, and sweat from contact with your environment, hair, clothes and hands. If you leave the skin dirty the pores can become blocked causing acne and blackheads. By simply washing your face in the morning, after exercise and before you go to bed you remove toxins that can cause pore blockages and acne. Avoid using soaps that contain oil, which can actually cause acne. Over the counter acne cleansers used on a regular basis can help to clear up breakouts and ultimately prevent them as well.

3. Over the counter Acne Treatments- There are so many over the counter acne treatments that are available on the market today. There are creams, lotions, cleansers, strips, spot treatments, wipes, pads and so many more. Everyone has 1 or 2 products that they like the best. Its up to you to choose the product that works best for you. Be patient because most acne products take 2-3 weeks to show noticeable results on the skin. Be careful with topical acne treatments that contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. If used copiously it can dry out the skin, even whilst healing your acne. The higher percentage of benzoyl peroxide that the treatment contains, the stronger it is and more likely that it will dry out the area of skin you apply it to. This increases its ability to heal acne more quickly.

4. Moisturize- After washing your face or using an acne cream, apply a layer of moisturizer to the skin washing the face strips the skin of its natural oils. Acne creams can heal acne while drying out the surrounding skin. When the skin is dry or stripped of its natural oils, the body will produce extra oil, which can build up in the pores and cause acne breakouts. An excess of sebum in the pores can lead to pimples and acne. When you apply moisturizer to the skin the body doesn’t need to produce excess sebum. It keeps the skin supple and protects the pores from accumulating dirt and bacteria.
